Poetry

the weight of isolated air

the night air is heavy coating my lungs in regret
that colors the tone of my voice in gravel

all that was beautiful was always twisted
but not every twisted branch holds beauty

air cooled by moonlight laments the remnants of sun on my skin
for the pain is evident in the color it left behind

nocturnal emissions of emotional release upon a deaf and blinded world
freedom to feel is cathartic…even in midnight solitude

people awaken to no one, at least faded memories seem real
in the pieces that still hold emotion

I haven’t heard my voice in enough time to question if I can speak at all
never cared for it much anyway

crickets and lightning bugs that I never call fireflies amuse me when they visit
fleeting like all other joy to be found

here by the water, the night air is heavy coating my lungs in regret…

…but I can’t remember why
